Barfly (Wei-Hsiang Fan) is a passionate sonic explorer and DJ from Taiwan, born in 1984 and active in the electronic music scene since 2002. Known for his energetic performances and hypnotic soundscapes, Barfly has become one of the key figures in Taiwan’s psychedelic trance movement.
Starting his journey from the urban nightlife of bars and clubs, he gradually evolved his style into a unique form of Full On Psytrance, blending powerful rhythms with emotional depth. In 2008, he began performing at major outdoor music festivals across Taiwan. His early sets ranged from Electro to Breakbeat, but it was in 2011 at EarthFest that he gained national recognition with his PsyBreaks set — earning the nickname “Mr. PsyBreaks”.
Barfly’s performances are often described as a full-force experience — merging traditional music motifs with modern electronic synthesis to ignite dance floors with primal energy. As described by Soniya , organizer of Taiwan’s Miracle Psychedelic Festival :
